Solicitation Tips & Forms

Every year, our school’s auction is strongly supported by parents’ solicitation efforts. That being said, solicitation is new to many of us. Below are some things to keep in mind when you call or contact vendors/prospective donors.

  • Solicitation, or asking for donations, can be a very positive marketing opportunity for many vendors (especially smaller ones).
  • Our parent community and geographic location is a strong selling point for many vendors.
  • A good place to start is with vendors that you and your family have a prior relationship with, or have frequented in the past.
  • Generally, instances when you are purchasing goods or services is a great time to ask.
  • At restaurants, before or after dining, asking the host about potential interest (and for his or her card) can work well.
  • In-person efforts tend to be very effective, but emailing and following up with a phone call can also yield strong results.
